Malleable Screens
Malleable Screens

Screens act as boundary objects between the physical and digital worlds, but they are only displays. What if you could grab them, mold them, manipulate them? These tangible interactions can serve as a direct link to the media content. In this project we are developing a new kind of malleable screen from an array of light emitting diodes that can be directly manipulated and deformed, and that will reflect these physical changes through real-time changes to the displayed media content. This movable screen interface will allow the screen to become the interaction device for both direct control and representation of virtual imagery, supporting interactivity between the artifact and the viewer and between the virtual and physical spaces.
